Equipment
Throughout our investigations we use a wide range of different equipment. Some specifically designed for paranormal investigating, others everyday objects, and some that we design and build ourselves. Below we will go over some the items that we have used during our investigations.
One of the first things we will do before starting our investigation will be to establish our hub, usually in a central location, ideally with no reported activity. The hub is the place where all the various remote cameras and environmental sensors we set up report back to. This allows one person to see in real time what is happening throughout the location and if necessary direct the team to investigate any unusually phenomena.
Cameras
On investigation we will use a variety of different cameras. Compact digital cameras allow us to take still images; this can be useful for checking the initial layout of trigger objects and reminding ourselves about a location at a later date. Quickly snapping shots of the location to see if anything unusual shows up can also give leads to follow up on and investigate further. The most common anomalies to show up in these photos are small, usually circular, lights known as orbs. There is much debate within the paranormal community surrounding orbs; however it is the opinion of the team that orbs can almost always be explained by non-paranormal means.
The second type of camera we use are stationary night vision cameras. These are be placed all around the location and send their audio and video feeds back to the hub where it’s recorded, allowing the team to both monitor the whole location in real time and play back footage for review. This can be invaluable as it allows us to see exactly what happened and the location of all team members should we see or hear something, even in the dark.
Finally we have full spectrum handheld cameras and action cameras. These can either held in the hand, strapped to the body with either chest or head mounts, or attached to tripods and used as stationary cameras. This can be particular useful for locations outside or in parts of a building without power where the usual stationary cameras cannot be used. When combined with an infrared illuminator light these cameras are able to see in the dark.
